In Tagalog, there’s a word called “hugot.” It’s one of those words that doesn’t really have a direct translation into English, as far as I know, but the closest I can think of is heartache. Although music that is classified as a "hugot song" is sad, it's connotation in Filipino culture includes a variety of emotions and actions. In this post, I'll be sharing music from my favorite hugot singer, Morissette Amon and how they're related to aspects of Filipino culture and my own life.
